And so, we have reached the end of the line on Yellowjackets season three. The Yellowjackets season three finale did indeed wrap up many loose ends and answer a ton of our questions, even some that are long-standing from the series as a whole, including: Who is the Antler Queen? Who Is Pit Girl? How do the Yellowjackets get rescued? And who killed Lottie? Were these answers satisfying, we’ll give it a so/so. Yellowjackets season three certainly had an action-packed final episode, but many of its answers felt a bit obvious. Alas! Still, the Yellowjackets season three finale left enough new questions open for us to look forward to another season. We suspect, though, that Yellowjackets season four might make sense as the show’s final season as well.
Here are all the major revelations and new questions posed to us in Yellowjackets season three’s finale, “Full Circle.”
Revelations From the Yellowjackets’ Season 3 Finale—“Full Circle”
Past Timeline: Mari Is Pit Girl

Who is Pit Girl? Well, Yellowjackets fans have long suspected that Mari is Pit Girl, a.k.a. the mystery girl we see meeting her doom in a pit as her teammates chase her in Yellowjackets season one, episode one. And on the Yellowjackets season three finale, we learn that indeed, Mari is Pit Girl.
After the team decides another hunt is necessary to appease the wilderness/get out their cruelty/try to take one more of them out, it’s Mari who draws the Queen of Hearts. Tai and Van try to rig the cards so that it’s newcomer Hannah who draws the Queen instead, but Shauna intervenes. So Mari sets off running to avoid being murdered by her team.
We see Mari transform into Pit Girl in real time as she decides she’ll have better luck getting away in her white nightgown, which blends into the snow. Stripping away her layers and her shoes in a panic, she sets off running, barefoot and nightgown-clad into the snow-covered woods. But the wilderness is not with her. She runs over the trap that Travis had set for Lottie in episode eight, falling right into the treacherous pit. Crunch. RIP Mari/Pit Girl.
Past Timeline: Shauna Is the Antler Queen
Another long-standing Yellowjackets question is who is the Antler Queen we see in episode one’s flashback. The Yellowjackets season three finale has an answer for that question as well. Shauna is the mysterious Antler Queen. After the hunt for Mari, she demands the team bring her Mari’s hair and allows Lottie to adorn her in antlers and her trophy… Yuck. Honestly, this isn’t what we wanted for AQ. The Antler Queen should be an ethereal and fae force. Shauna is just angry. We’d say off with her head if were other members of the Yellowjackets team.

Past Timeline: Natalie Makes Contact with the Outside World Through the Satellite Phone
How will the team get rescued? It seems like the Yellowjackets season three finale also accounts for that question! While Shauna is still basking in her post-feast Antler Queen success, Natalie runs off with the satellite phone to try to get in contact with any kind of humanity. And in the very last minutes of the season, she does! The satellite phone, fixed with a part from the broken plane transponder, finally manages to dial out. Someone picks up on the other side. Will they be able to find the Yellowjackets team? We suppose they will. But how long will it take? That we don’t yet know.
Present Timeline: Callie Killed Adult Lottie
Meanwhile, one of the biggest questions in Yellowjackets season three itself, was who exactly killed Lottie. Misty and Walter were convinced it was Shauna because Walter found Shauna’s DNA under Lottie’s fingernails. But it turns out, that was only a part of the answer. It was actually Callie, who shares mitochondrial DNA with her mother, who killed Lottie.
Lottie took the wilderness symbol marked tape that Callie found when she left Shauna’s house. Callie confronted her about it, but Lottie ignored her, marveling at how It was inside Callie and brought Callie to Lottie. Lottie really seemed to believe that Callie was a replacement for the Wilderness baby that “she and Shauna” had lost. Callie, understandably freaked out, but also with Shauna’s DNA inside of her, pushed Lottie down the stairs in response and Lottie died. Ooops? Misty figures it out, and Callie confesses to Jeff. But like many murders in Yellowjackets, it feels like there won’t really be consequences.
Jeff and Callie do run away from Shauna, though. And we bet she won’t like that for long.

Present Timeline: Melissa Did Really Leave Shauna a Note
It turns out that even though Melissa murdered Van, she did actually leave Shauna a note explaining the tape. Callie just missed it falling through her fingers when she was startled by Jeff. Huh. It’s hard to say exactly what Melissa’s intentions were, but we’ll undoubtedly learn more in Yellowjackets season four.
Questions From the Yellowjackets’ Season 3 Finale—“Full Circle”
Past Timeline: What Will Happen Between Shauna and Natalie Before Rescue?
Shauna is now the Antler Queen in the wilderness, but it doesn’t seem like she’s very popular. Nat defied her to run to the top of the mountain and try to power the satellite phone. We obviously know Nat survives to rescue, but we suspect a major power struggle will soon come to pass.
Past Timeline: How Will Hannah Die?
Hannah didn’t die in the Yellowjackets season three finale hunt, but she is marked for death. We wonder how she will end up dying in the end, since we know she doesn’t make it out of the wilderness and back to her daughter.

Present Timeline: What Is the Deal with Adult Melissa?
What was the point of Melissa? She appears to have actually been truthful when she said she sent the tape with an explanatory note. But she also killed Van… and still appears to believe in the wilderness. It doesn’t really all add up and we really aren’t sure what adult Melissa’s storyline was supposed to be exactly.
Present Timeline: Will Misty and Tai Frame Shauna For Murder?
Misty and Tai are gunning for Shauna. Tai feels like its Shauna’s fault that Van is dead. And Shauna has not been very nice to Misty at all. They also seem to remember more about how terrible she was in the wilderness as well. But what will they do? They do technically have evidence that Shauna killed Lottie, but will they use it against her? We can see a potential season four story arc where Misty and Tai try to get Shauna imprisoned once and for all… But one thing’s for sure, Shauna will always try to bite back.

Present Timeline: What Will Shauna Do Next?
Speaking of Shauna, she is fired up and ready to reclaim her place as Antler Queen. She writes in her journal that she finally remembers who she was in the wilderness, a warrior, a queen. And she recalls how much fun she had in those roles, up to and including hunting and killing her friends. I mean, go off, Shauna, no one made you become a wife and mother. But what does reclaiming her wilderness power mean for Shauna and the rest of our characters in the present Yellowjackets storyline? Probably nothing good.
Present Timeline: What’s Walter’s Deal?
Okay. Come on. There must be something going on with Walter. He can’t just be curious and in love with Misty. In the finale, we see him skulking about with somewhat ominous/angry emo music playing in the background. But what’s he up to? He didn’t really do that much in Yellowjackets season three. And we honestly know little about him overall. We guess we’ll have to wait for season four to know more.
Present Timeline: Was Someone Trying to Kill Shauna on Yellowjackets Season 3? (The Finale Doesn’t Tell Us)
One Yellowjackets season three mystery isn’t clearly resolved in the finale. Was someone really trying to kill Shauna this season on Yellowjackets? Misty admits she trapped Shauna in the freezer. But that still doesn’t explain the cryptic phone playing “Queen of Hearts” or Shauna’s brakes malfunctioning. Could it have been Melissa? Walter? A secret third thing? Or maybe no one at all. It feels like we may or may not find out.

What Does the Yellowjackets Wilderness Symbol Mean?
We’ve been waiting forever and a half to learn the meaning of the Yellowjackets wilderness symbol… And in season three, we… still did not learn its symbol or origins. Where did the strange mark come from? What does it mean? And why does it haunt the wilderness? Please just tell us!
Is “It” Real on Yellowjackets?
And so, we reach the question we always ask when it comes to Yellowjackets. Is “It” madness or magic? Is there some supernatural external force at work or is it all just trauma in the minds of our leading ladies? Sometimes, like when the series shows us its vision of the afterlife, it feels like there is indeed a mythical god at work. But others, it feels like we’re meant to understand it’s all coincidence. So which is it, Yellowjackets?
With the airing of the Yellowjackets finale, episode 10, “Full Circle, season three of Yellowjackets is now at an end. The whole season streams now on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME.
