I travel a lot, which means my life frequently gets packed into my suitcase. For years, I didn’t really care about my luggage. If it fit my clothes, I was good to go. But my Away suitcase changed my perspective on that, especially as a frequent flier.

I have the “Bigger Carry-On,” which is kind of the perfect size for me. I admit, I’m pretty minimalist when it comes to packing, but this suitcase can fit up to a week’s worth of my clothes—maybe more if I’m prepared to sit on my suitcase to close it. One side of the suitcase zips up, while the other remains open, separated by a divider that itself can store some flat items. It rolls great, and hasn’t given me any durability issues over six years of use.

But the real reason I love this suitcase so much is in the name: carry-on. This suitcase is just small enough to fit most airlines’ overhead compartments, so much so that you probably won’t believe it qualifies as a carry-on when you look at it. Even after more than half a decade with this suitcase, I still expect flight attendants to reject me with my Away bag, or experience some embarrassment when I hold up boarding because my suitcase doesn’t fit in the bin. But, to my delight, it fits perfectly every time. While not all airlines support this bag on paper, I’ve never had an issue. In fact, the only time I’ve checked this bag is when a flight gets too full, and they make everyone check a bag. Checkmate, airlines.

Right now, Amazon has the Salt White Bigger Carry-On available for $252, 20% off from $315. The Sea Green is $250.75, down 15% from $295.
