Kevin Feige’s time with Marvel Studios is likely coming to an end soon-ish. He’s been in key roles with the company since he started there 25 years ago in 2000. After several years and a very successful launch of the MCU with Iron Man (2008), Feige became the studios’ president, a role he still occupies to this day. But, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Feige said his contract with Marvel will end in a couple of years.
To be more specific, he said “two years, a little less” is left in his contract. There’s the possibility that he will renew his time with Marvel but that’s probably not the case. Sometimes, you just wanna move on. While I’d sail off on a yacht and live a happy, rich, and chill life after decades of hard work, that doesn’t seem to be in Feige’s plans.
“Do I want to be making big movies for big audiences in 10 or 15 years from now? Yes, absolutely. That’s all I want to do,” Feige said. “Marvel’s a great way to do that for me right now. But I hope to make big movies for lots of people forever more.”
That timeline for Feige’s contract ending with Marvel means he will likely leave in 2027. That’s when Avengers: Secret Wars will release and bring Phase 6 to a close. We don’t know what’s coming after that but Feige told Variety that this universe will get a reboot of sorts with new actors in familiar roles. It’s all very interesting, indeed.
