Apple is getting ready to ship two new Apple Intelligence options in iOS 18.2 beta shortly, not less than in line with two new backend references noticed by Aaron Perris on X.
Apple Intelligence options
The 2 options in query are Siri with ChatGPT, and Visual Intelligence for iPhone 16. Each of those options had been anticipated “later this 12 months”, which doubtless meant iOS 18.2 regardless. Nevertheless, the additions to the backend are a great signal that nothing will probably be seeing a delay.
Apple unveiled Siri with ChatGPT again at WWDC24, and it’ll enable Apple Intelligence customers to faucet into ChatGPT when asking extra advanced questions that require extra actual world or actual time data, whereas Apple’s fashions will deal with extra of the private context and less complicated requests.
Visual Intelligence, however, is a more recent function unveiled alongside the iPhone 16 lineup, and it’ll actually deliver the brand new Digital camera Management button to life. You’ll be capable of level your digicam at a poster and add these particulars to your calendar, use it to acknowledge actual world objects just like Google Lens, and extra.
iOS 18.2 beta launch
The timing on this backend addition is slightly fascinating, given the truth that iOS 18.2 beta doubtless received’t be launched till the very finish of October on the earliest. Apple is anticipated to launch iOS 18.1 to the general public on October 28th, and usually the following beta follows just some days after.
It’s attainable that the corporate will do the identical factor they did with iOS 18.0 and iOS 18.1, and select to run two beta tracks on the identical time. That’s slightly unlikely, however it may very well be a chance for why these backend references out of the blue confirmed up immediately.
All we will say for sure is that iOS 18.1 RC is probably going imminent, in all probability releasing to testers later this week. A technique or one other, we shouldn’t be too far out from our first iOS 18.2 beta.
