MR. SCORSESE Docuseries Trailer Takes Fans Behind the Camera Michael Walsh | usagoldmines.com

There is no accolade you can give Martin Scorsese that feels like hyperbole. How can it when he has an argument for being the greatest director ever. Why can you make that case? Apple TV’s new docuseries Mr. Scorsese is going to explore why. It’s taking movielovers on a deep dive into his life and career. And it’s doing that with the help of some of Hollywood’s biggest names.

Mr. Scorsese comes from director Rebecca Miller. Apple TV calls it “a cinematic portrait of a man through the lens of his work, exploring the many facets of a visionary who redefined filmmaking, including his extraordinary career and unique personal history.”

The five-episode series will include insights from some of his most famous colleagues and collaborators. That includes interviews with Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Jay Cocks and Rodrigo Prieto. Viewers will also hear from the legendary director’s family and his close childhood friends.

Apple TV also provided a synopsis for each episode:

  • Part 1. “Stranger in a Strange Land” – The child of immigrants, young Scorsese is shaped by the Catholic Church and the violent streets around him, with cinema as his escape.
  • Part 2. “All This Filming Isn’t Healthy” – Scorsese begins his partnership with Robert De Niro and becomes a definitive cinematic voice of the 1970s—while facing personal struggles.
  • Part 3. “Saint/Sinner” – After a rebirth with Raging Bull and then a flop with The King of Comedy, Scorsese learns to work small again and pursues a passion project.
  • Part 4. “Total Cinema” – Following a turbulent period of international controversy, Scorsese achieves massive success and a new vision of cinema in Goodfellas.
  • Part 5. “Method Director” – As a partnership with Leonardo DiCaprio brings Scorsese’s career to new heights, he reflects on his legacy as a storyteller and looks to the future.

All five episodes of Mr. Scorsese will debut at Apple TV on Friday, October 17. Will it be the best docuseries ever? That seems unlikely. But considering its subject matter we’re not going to rule out any accolade.
