AWS Outage Disrupts Coinbase and Multiple Online Services Tari | usagoldmines.com

Many Coinbase users had an unpleasant start to the day as they struggled to log in and access their accounts. The crypto exchange reported the problem, citing an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage that was still ongoing.

Coinbase reassured users that all funds remain safe while their team works on resolving the issue.

What’s Going On?

Coinbase’s support team posted, “We’re aware many users are currently unable to access Coinbase due to an AWS outage. Our team is working on the issue, and we’ll provide updates here. All funds are safe.”

This outage isn’t only hitting Coinbase. Major online platforms such as Snapchat, Amazon, Reddit, and Xbox Network felt the effect. The problem appears to stem from a disruption in AWS’s US-EAST-1 region, which is one of Amazon’s main data hubs. AWS has admitted to “increased error rates and latencies” in several of its core services. Reports say this issue may also be affecting AWS’s own support systems. Users attempting to open help tickets or interact with support APIs are also encountering issues.

Social media posts, especially on Reddit, show Coinbase users struggling to log in, trade, or even view their balances. Many users report that their apps and websites are not loading. According to Downdetector, the problem began around midnight PDT and spread worldwide.

What’s Still Unclear

AWS has not established the actual cause of the disruption. It might be a technical malfunction, a software fault, or a glitch in the network. The timeline to full recovery is not yet clear.

In the case of Coinbase, the incident involves waiting for AWS to restore its services. No sign of a user funds or internal systems breach. However, such outages can lead to delays, result in a zero balance, and cause other errors.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t the first time an AWS issue has caused widespread problems online. There are many tech and gaming firms, as well as crypto firms, that rely on the cloud services provided by Amazon. Once an important area, such as US-EAST-1 fails, everyone gets a heavy blow.
Although Coinbase may have excellent backup systems, its front-end services use the AWS infrastructure.

Conclusion

The ongoing AWS outage has disrupted Coinbase and several other big platforms. All the funds are safe, but users will not be able to take any action until AWS balances its systems. It is another wake-up call to the fact that modern online services are heavily reliant on shared cloud infrastructure. AWS sneezed, and the internet caught a cold.
