Want to Read Daniel Molloy’s INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Book? Here Are TALAMASCA’S Excerpts Rotem Rusak | usagoldmines.com

Ah, the tangled webs we weave. Interview with the Vampire is many things. It’s a book by Anne Rice that exists in our world. Additionally, it’s a TV series that’s a part of AMC’s Immortal Universe, which adapts many of Anne Rice’s books and ideas into television shows. On top of that, it’s a book that exists in the universe of the Interview with the Vampire series. In the series, this book is written by Daniel Molloy. (And it’s a slightly different version of the in-universe book that Daniel Molloy also wrote in the world of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire book.) Got that? Good. Because we’re about to add one more layer. In the newest chapter of AMC’s Immortal Universe, Talamasca: The Secret Order, fans can actually see and hear excerpts from Daniel Molloy’s Interview with the Vampire book, as written by Eric Bogosian’s version of Molloy. Die-hard fans of Interview with the Vampire will most likely want to squint to read every available word. So to make it easy for all of you fledglings out there, we’ve transcribed every excerpt of Interview with the Vampire given to us by Talamasca: The Secret Order.

The Talamasca Series Gives Us an Interview with the Vampire Excerpt Which Sheds Light on Louis and Armand’s Life Together

The Vampire Burton wants Guy Anatole to know the Talamasca has been lying to him. To show him, he leaves him a copy of Interview with the Vampire open to a page of the book where Guy’s mother, Anna Leamas, is mentioned by Daniel Molloy. When Guy picks up the book to look more closely, we can see two pages of Daniel Molloy’s Interview with the Vampire pretty clearly. In these Interview with the Vampire pages, Eric Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy writes a bit about Armand and Louis’ life together, both in modern-day, in the “Dubai Penthouse Prison,” as Daniel calls it, and in the near-past of 2008.

Here’s the excerpt of the Interview with the Vampire book that we could make out in this Talamasca scene. If anyone cares, it’s page 226:

Real Rashid brings me my morning coffee, which I sip on the balcony, trying to get a bit of vitamin D and keep my doctors off my case before my next hours-long session in the penthouse prison. I take in in the skyline, a metropolis in the middle of the desert, built on blood, sweat, tears, and slave labor. Like Dubai, I am somewhere I shouldn’t be, a rich man’s vanity project and now a dumping ground for checkered pasts. Louis is my Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

It’s not long before the sun has risen enough that the heat becomes unbearable (really, no one should live here), so I return inside, where Armand meets me. Apparently, they have some business downtown to attend to, so we will not be convening until later. Something about an “unscourpoulous appraisal.” Armand answers before I can even ask the question. “The car windows utilize the same tinting technology present here. Beyond that, we will exit and enter via underground parking. “We have lived here a number of years, Mr. Molloy. With careful planning, the sun is no threat to him.”

Armand leaves me with their trove of documents and records so I spend the morning researching. I sit reading through the archive for 20 minutes before realizing the opportunity present. No one is here. Well, Real Rashid, but no one capable of inducing tremors should they feel I’ve crossed some invisible line…

The rest of this page of Daniel’s Interview with the Vampire book is obscured to us, but we can see the top of the next page clearly. As mentioned, this page details some of Armand and Louis’ life together in 2008, in the world of the Interview with the Vampire series. It seems they lived in the 8th District of Vienna, Josefstadt. Evidently, Josefstadt is a place that calls to young creatives and is a hip, trendy district full of art and culture. So, just right for Louis and Armand was present. (We say with great affection.) We are also enamored with Armand’s “matter-of-fact” use of “quaint.” Truly, a nerd. We, too, are nerds, so we’ll remind everyone that this excerpt is from page 272 of the Interview with the Vampire book. Here’s what this page shares.

“And so followed a month of overserving ourselves in and around quaint Josefstadt,” Amrand offers matter-of-factly. A spike in postmortems performed by the Department of Forensic Medicine at the University of Vienna in October 2008 confirms the killing spree.

How many of these are your victims?” I recite a list of the deceased…

The rest of page 227 is a long list of people that Louis and Armand may or may not have killed. We won’t transcribe the whole visible list here, but importantly, Anna Leamas, Guy Anatole’s mother in Talamasca: The Secret Ordered is mentioned by name in Daniel Molloy’s Interview with the Vampire book.

Eric Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy Cameos on Talamasca to Read an Excerpt From His Interview with the Vampire Book

The second excerpt from Daniel Molloy’s Interview with the Vampire book is read to us by the man himself, Eric Bogosian. In Talamasca: The Secret Order, Eric Bogosian cameos as Daniel Molloy on his book tour. Daniel is doing a reading and signing for his book Interview with the Vampire, when Guy comes to confront him about the mention of his mother in his book. Before their discussion, which we break down here, we get to see Daniel Molloy reading from his book. This Interview with the Vampire excerpt details the scene from the show’s season two’s finale, where Louis attacks Armand after realizing Armand lied to him about many things, but most importantly about: 1) what really happened in Paris with The Thétre des Vampires, 2) his role in Claudia’s death, and 3) his removal of Louis’ memories of trying to kill himself in 1973.

How the Season 2 Finale of INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Changes the Book’s Ending

We already know what happened, but it’s fun to hear it in Daniel Molloy’s writing voice. Here’s the excerpt Bogosian reads for us from Daniel Molloy’s Interview with the Vampire book:

The room concussed and then Louis’ voice, ‘Daniel. Daniel.’ I rose from my chair, dust and damage in all directions, shuffling to the living room to the see the plane, which was merely a body crumpled below a fissured wall. Armand, avoiding the eyes of Louis, who stood over him like a tidal wave, pondering its descent.

Honestly, we’re in, and would read the entirety of Interview with the Vampire as written by Eric Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy. There’s something very poetic and also campy to the phrase, “stood over him like a tidal wave, pondering its descent.” And Bogosian delivers it with just the right amount of wry snark. We can see how Daniel snagged all those Pulitzers. (Also delivered with just the right amount of wry snark.) It’s additionally interesting to hear Bogosian’s Daniel say Armand’s name without any kind of inflection. We wonder if there’s been any change to the relationship between Maker and Fledgling since Daniel last asked after his wayward… Daddy in Interview with the Vampire season two.

We Hope for More Excerpts From Daniel Molloy’s Interview with the Vampire Book

Hearing and seeing excerpts from Daniel Molloy’s Interview with the Vampire book in Talamasca is a ton of fun. We hope to get more of them from the various Immortal Universe series before long. Maybe Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy would even do a real fake reading for us sometime. Hey, he’s already doing fake Interview with the Vampire book press, and we LOVE it. (Bogosian’s Molloy has so far managed to get cancelled and had to Notes app apologize for it.)

We guess we’ll have to wait and see if we’ll get more peaks into from the official (fake) Interview with the Vampire book. Anne Rice’s Talmasca: The Secret Order releases weekly on Sundays on AMC and AMC+ at 9pm ET/PT. The Vampire Lestat will release sometime in 2026.
