Here’s How to Hear THE VAMPIRE LESTAT’s Music in TALAMASCA Rotem Rusak | usagoldmines.com

Ooh, ooh, ooh, wah ahhh. We have to say, The Vampire Lestat has really done what few fictional properties are able to do successfully, and that’s create in-universe music that, dare we say, SLAYS. And even though we’ve only heard a little bit of the vampire Lestat’s full collected works, it’s enough to convince us that when this album drops, it’s going to be a fanger. For now, we don’t exactly know when The Vampire Lestat will grace us with all of its musical stylings (aka episodes), but that’s okay, because we’re always glad to hit repeat on a track. And just in case we’ve forgotten him, as if we could, the vampire Lestat and his music have crept his way into the currently airing chapter of the Immortal Universe, Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order. But how can you hear the Vampire Lestat on Talamasca, and what parts of his music get a chance to shine in a show that isn’t even his? Join us as we break it down.

You Can Hear The Vampire Lestat’s Music in Talamasca: The Secret Order, Episode 5, “The Puzzle Place”

Even before Talamasca aired, co-showrunner Mark Lafferty teased, “If a viewer is listening very closely in episode 5, they might hear something coming through the speakers of a bar that is a direct tie to another of the series, and might also give somebody some residuals from Talamasca.” And indeed, Sam Reid will be recieving residuals from Talamasca because The Vampire Lestat’s music, specifically his song “Long Face” plays during episode five of the series.

When and Where Does The Vampire Lestat’s Music Appear in Talamasca?

But episode five of Talamasca is a 40-minute episode with a lot of music playing throughout it—how can you find the exact scene where Lestat’s music plays? Worry not. We are happy to let you know that The Vampire Lestat’s music plays at exactly the 35:24 mark of Talamasca episode five, if you don’t have any commercial breaks. If you do, we assume it kicks in right after the ad break at approximately that time stamp.

More descriptively, the scene comes right after the one of Guy and Doris playing the game, Sorry! It begins with a wide shot of a pub that quickly reveals Helen walking through the door and into a hallway toward a bathroom from which she retrieves a gun. As Helen crosses the pub in Talamasca, Lestat coos around her.

What Lestat Song Plays in Talamasca? Do We Hear Any New Lestat Music in Talamasca?

Alas, we don’t get to hear any new Lestat music in Talamasca. But we’re always happy to hear Lestat’s hits over and over again. The song we hear playing during Talamasca episode five is “Long Face” by the Vampire Lestat. Once your ears have adjusted, you can clearly hear “Long Face”‘s lyrics, “Now we’re having fun… fun.” in the background of the Talamasca scene. (Or is that “ffffffuuuuuuuuunnnnnn. funnnnnn.”) We have to admit, hearing Lestat on the radio sounds totally normal in this sequence, and we are kind of obsessed with it.

Which The Vampire Lestat Songs Have We Heard So Far, Overall?

“Long Face,” the song we hear in Talamasca, is actually the only The Vampire Lestat song that has released in full so far. You can check out its lyric music video below so you can sing along.

In addition, we hear a different The Vampire Lestat song, most likely titled “Bang, Bang,” in The Vampire Lestat‘s extended teaser trailer. “Bang, Bang” actually sounds sonically similar to “Long Face,” convincingly selling they are by the same artist. But we can’t wait to hear what else The Vampire Lestat has up his sleeve.

More About The Vampire Lestat’s Upcoming Music

It’s good to know The Vampire Lestat has become so popular that his music plays around the world, including in the small London pub of Talamasca. And we feel sure he’s just getting started.

When we spoke to The Vampire Lestat composer, Daniel Hart, he teased, “because Lestat contains multitudes. He’s not going to be limited to one specific genre or style. We tried to span time. In the way that Lestat has lived for so long, you would think he would be influenced by more music than anybody alive now because he’s seen it all first-hand. So from classical music through the Romantic era in France, and then moving into the US—early jazz, ragtime that he would’ve seen in New Orleans, and then coming through the fifties, sixties, the beginnings of rock and roll, all the way up until now, and being influenced by people that are doing stuff now. We wanted it all to be represented. That’s what we tried for.”

We can’t wait to hear all these aspects of our favorite vampire in sound. And we love hearing Lestat’s stylings in Talamasca, revealing the fun connections between Immortal Universe series.

Anne Rice’s Talmasca: The Secret Order releases weekly on Sundays on AMC and AMC+ at 9 pm ET/PT. The Vampire Lestat will release sometime in 2026.
