At the height of Game of Thrones‘ popularity, we were all invested in the plight of House Stark, and wondering when these poor, scattered Stark children would reunite. They finally did in the last season, and now, two of them are reuniting again. Kit Harington, the former Jon Snow, and Sophie Turner, the former Sansa Stark, are back together in the upcoming gothic horror film The Dreadful. And the former on-screen siblings are getting to share a smooch on screen, which was somewhat awkward for both actors. And not just because they once played brother and sister in Westeros. Here’s what Kit Harington told E! News, via IGN, about kissing his former on-screen sister, Sophie Turner:
It was slightly embarrassing, having to get on an apple box to kiss her because she’s about a foot taller than me. But other than that, my dignity was pretty intact. She [Turner] was one that sent that movie to me and somehow didn’t see what I saw in it. I was like, ‘These guys, these are lovers, right?’
So, it seems Harington was less embarrassed about kissing his former “kid sister” Turner, and more about the fact that he had to stand on a box so he didn’t look so much shorter than her. And hey, we totally get that. Nobody likes it when their younger sibling is suddenly making them look short. Even if it’s just your TV sibling. But even though Sophie Turner recommended her old friend for the role, it was weird for her too. When Turner pitched the project to Harington, she told him, “We’re doing a gothic horror, but we play lovers… It’s really weird for all of us.” They should both have a chat with Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played husband and wife in Godzilla and then a year later were siblings Wanda and Pietro Maximoff in the MCU. Now that’s awkward.
