No one could have predicted how big The Mandalorian would become before its debut in November 2019. In fairness, though, we didn’t know something important. The show features the most adorable “asset” in the history of the galaxy far, far away. Now, the hit series that helped launch Disney+ is moving to the big screen. And The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s newest trailer finally reveals why our favorite Star Wars TV duo needed to tell its next story in theaters. They’re going to try to prevent a war.
The Mandalorian‘s third season wasn’t exactly as beloved as the first two, but this trailer gives us hope that Din and his little buddy are going to find “the way” back to what made the series great. This is a big story with a whole lot of connections to Star Wars, but it still feels like its all about these two. It’s full of action, adventure, danger, and fun. It’s exactly what we want from these two.
The Mandalorian and Grogu comes from The Mandalorian creator and showrunner Jon Favreau who directs. Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filono also serve as executive producers. It stars Pedro Pascal (we will see his face!) as our favorite bounty hunter. It will also introduce Sigourney Weaver to the franchise as a hero of the New Republic hoping to keep a perilous peace alice. Jeremy Allen White is also getting in on the fun as Jabba the Hutt’s son Rotta. This trailer reveals he will be a far more important part of the movie than we expected. Jonny Coyne is also returning to Star Wars as the Imperial Warlord from The Mandalorian‘s Shadow Council introduced in season three, which we see still operating in this new look at the film.
We won’t have to wait much longer to see exactly why this adventure needed a movie. The Mandalorian and Grogu will find its way to theaters just in time for summer. It debuts on May 22, 2026.
