Gamers, it’s a good time to upgrade to an OLED monitor… if only because it’s a bad time to upgrade pretty much every other part of your setup. But pardon me for the doom and gloom. This is a legitimately good deal on an MSI OLED monitor made just for PC gamers: a 27-inch MSI model with 240Hz of refresh is just $429.99 on Amazon.

Down from its $500 regular price, the 27-inch MAG 272QP X24 is actually pretty reasonable now. It’s hitting all the right notes for a modern OLED monitor, with a semi-standard 2560×1440 (QHD) resolution that’s the “sweet spot” for current PC gaming, plus 240Hz of refresh to satisfy even competitive gamers. It’s also packing 0.03 milliseconds of response time and support for both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync, as well as dedicated console modes at up to 120Hz.

Unlike a lot of other OLED displays in this price range, you also get USB-C video with DisplayPort Alt Mode… but only 15 watts of power. That means this thing can handle a single-cable connection to a phone or tablet, but you’ll need something else if you want to use it with your laptop while keeping it charged.

By the way, I had to hunt down that spec [PDF]. Google’s AI overview said the monitor can deliver 155 watts, which is hilariously wrong. Also, the MAG 272QP X24 monitor should not be confused with the MAG 272QP X50, which is newer, faster, and more expensive. Gaming monitor names do, indeed, suck.

Amazon is showing this as a standard discount (“limited time deal”), so it’s not clear how long it’ll stick around. I’d use the savings to add on a VESA arm, which are great for clean and ergonomic desktops.
