It’s been quiet for some time when it comes to news on the third A Quiet Place film. (Sorry folks, we had to go there.) Actually, technically it’s the fourth, if you count the excellent prequel film, A Quiet Place: Day One. But after months of speculation, director John Krasinski has officially announced on social media (via Variety) that production will soon commence on A Quiet Place Part III. Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe are all returning, with new cast members Jack O’Connell, Jason Clarke, and Katy O’Brian also announced.
On his social media post, Krasinski, who also wrote and directed the first two installments, said, “So proud to be part of this A Quiet Place Family…old and new. Here we go!” The post also showed many copies of the completed script. Production will commence on the third installment this spring in New York, and the release date has also been revealed. It looks like A Quiet Place Part III will arrive in theaters next summer. Unlike other horror franchises, A Quiet Place does not crank out sequels every year or other year, like Saw or Paranormal Activity did. This franchise is Kransinski’s baby, and he takes his time between installments. This third chapter will come out six years after the last one.
What will the storyline entail for this third chapter? Well, for one thing, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe are no longer kids, they are young adults. So the dynamic is going to change drastically. And we’re excited for that prospect. A Quiet Place, as a franchise, is one of the most financially and critically successful horror franchises of this era. It has both high earnings and high ratings from fans and critics alike, a rare feat in horror. Can John Krasinski keep the momentum going almost a decade into this series? We’ll find out when A Quiet Place Part III hits theaters on July 30, 2027.
