Early in the day yesterday, a reader reached out to us to point out how frustrating it was that Google had announced a rollout for Gemini to Android Auto back in November of last year, yet it seems that few people have actually been upgraded. I’m one of those who has been frustratingly waiting with no access.
Within a few hours of that email and before I could respond back, that same reader reached back out to let me know that they had randomly been given Gemini access all of a sudden on their next car session. Was this the week that Google unlocked Gemini in Android Auto to more people?
With that event in place, we did the thing we always do and headed over to the Android Auto subreddit to see if others were experiencing similar changes. As it turns out, there are several new reports of folks getting Gemini in their cars.
I’ve been getting in and out of my car all morning to try and get this to switch and have had zero luck. Seeing all of these new reports had me excited that it might finally be my time! It isn’t, it seems. Maybe it’s yours, though.
For the rest of you, have you been given access to Gemini in Android Auto? Did that access just pop-up today or have you had it for some time?
Cheers Scott!
