Google takes a similar approach to Apple, selling two size options of the Pixel 10 Pro, its flagship model. You have the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. Basically identical specs, with exception to things having to do with size — display size, battery size, etc. As we all know, Samsung does not do this, opting instead for two size options of the less expensive model, like we have with Galaxy S26 and S26+.
A lot is packed into a Galaxy S26 Ultra. There are many cameras, an S Pen, big battery, cooling technologies to ensure your device doesn’t overheat, and of course, that big gorgeous display. Could Samsung make a smaller version of the device? It seems entirely doable, but sacrifices would possibly need to be made? Maybe the S Pen would have to go?
The question isn’t whether it’s doable or not. The question is, would you buy it? Even these larger phones have become quite usable with one hand, but personally, when I have a choice between a smaller and larger device, I always opt for the smaller (more comfortable) one. I went with the Pixel 10 Pro and I went with an iPhone 17 Pro. I don’t care for the added bulk found on the XL or Max models.
I know I’m not alone here. This discussion was brought up in the Samsung Galaxy reddit recently and many folks seem to agree that if there was a smaller version of a Galaxy Ultra, that would be the phone they buy. The key needs to be, the smaller model has all of the same power and features, it’s simply smaller.
