Both Sonic the Hedgehog and Godzilla will be returning to theaters in the not-too-distant future in their own respective movies. But before that happens, they’ll return together to the pages of comic books. This summer, IDW Comics is publishing Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla, a five-issue series from writer Nick Marino, artist Jack Lawrence, and colorist Reggie Graham. In recent years, the King of the Monsters has fought the X-Men, and Sonic has taken on DC Comics’ Darkseid. But is Sonic fast enough to dodge Godzilla’s atomic breath? The Blue Blur’s battle with Dr. Eggman is upended by the arrival of two enormous monsters emerging from a humongous fissure in reality. The magnificent Mothra and the menacing Mechagodzilla carry their vicious battle into Sonic’s world, and its fate now hangs in the balance! Not only will Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla feature the titular characters, but many of Sonic’s supporting cast and villains will appear as well. Tails, Amy Rose, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman, and Shadow are all set to appear. Godzilla’s fellow kaijus, Mechagodzilla and Mothra, will also pop in to wreak havoc and destroy property. And we wouldn’t be shocked if there are some other surprise characters and monsters who show up to the party.
The first issue of Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla from IDW hits comic book shops on July 15.
