While many of us love to thumb through the pages of books, we also love an audio version of stories as well. It’s another way to read and immerse yourself into a universe that you can do while going for a run, driving to work, or even while you are kicking back on the couch. Dungeon Crawler Carl is one of the world’s that’s ripe for Audible exploration. The beloved LitRPG just dropped its eighth installment and to celebrate the release, Dungeon Crawler Carl creator Matt Dinniman and narrator Jeff Hays came together for a very funny Audible segment to rank character voices.
Before they even get started, Dinniman admits that this will cause a stir among fans. But isn’t that why we do things like this? Who among us doesn’t like to debate for a ranking list? In this video, every Dungeon Crawler Carl character gets a live voice demo from Jeff, and we see fan art inspired recreations for them.
Jeff gets immediate feedback from Matt about his narrations in real time, and they have some differences of opinion. It’s a very cool deep dive into characters to learn more about how the narrator finds different voices and who some of Matt Dinniman’s favorite characters are.
There are some great tidbits, like how Hays channeled his inner Oprah for Odette and loves voicing System AI. Hopefully Peacock is listening and gives this man a voice acting role for its Dungeon Crawler Carl series.
