Pedro Pascal has had quite a genre career in the past few years. He’s taken on the role of Reed Richards in the MCU’s The Fantastic Four, he’s transformed into Joel in HBO’s intense The Last of Us series, and, of course, he’s been the voice, and occasional face, behind the mask of Din Djarin in The Mandalorian. Now, as The Mandalorian heads to the big screen in The Mandalorian and Grogu, the natural question arises: “Will Din Djarin remove his helmet and let us see Pedro Pascal’s face in the movie?” Surely, the answer must be yes?! Why Does The Mandalorian Remove His Helmet?
Okay, so why does The Mandalorian remove his helmet, which we know he has sworn an oath never to do in the presence of another living thing lest he betray the Way of the Mandalore? Well, okay, so he doesn’t exactly remove it. Instead, Din Djarin gets into trouble with “The Twins,” the aunt and uncle of Rotta the Hutt, Jabba the Hutt’s son, who are up to no good. When The Mandalorian prevents them from getting their hands on Rotta, as they “hired” him and the New Republic to do, the Hutts want their revenge. The Twins kidnap Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and Grogu and remove his helmet to shame him. Then they send him falling into a pit that contains a Dragon Snake, intending for him to die.
How Does Din Djarin Get His Helmet Back in The Mandalorian and Grogu
Hilariously, the Hutts just… give Din Djarin his helmet back, allowing him to obscure Pedro Pascal’s visage from the world once more in The Mandalorian and Grogu. The Mandalorian kills a lesser creature, not yet knowing he’s a bout to face a Dragon Snake, and as a reward, The Twins throw his helmet into the pit with him. The Mandalorian dons it and goodbye Pedro Pascal, hello deadly warrior.
Will Din Djarin Have to Live in Shame for His Helmet Removal?
But will Din Djarin have to lead a life of shame and exile for allowing another to have his helmet removed and letting another creature see his face? No! Because the stipulation is that The Mandalorian must never remove his helmet in the presence of a “living creature.” And, of course, Din Djarin makes sure the Hutts are very much dead before he leaves their presence. In this way, technically, no living creature saw Pedro Pascal’s helmet-less face in The Mandalorian and Grogu. And so, problem solved.
Does Pedro Pascal Appear in Any Other Part of the Movie?
Is that one The Mandalorian and Grogu scene the only one that Pedro Pascal appears in? Sadly, yes. We only get one scene of Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian and Grogu. The rest of the time, The Mandalorian is wearing his helmet and only Pascal’s voice is with us. A pretty good deal for Pascal, if you ask us.
