“AI” infecting everything is the theme of 2026, so much so that even Microsoft is scaling things back a bit. But don’t tell that to MSI. Apparently they saw Razer’s slop-powered anime girls back at CES and decided they needed to up their own game for Computex. The MEG Vision X2 AI+ desktop includes an animated avatar for the industry’s avaricious excess, right in the front of the machine. Hooray.
The little dragon avatar in the holographic jar is “LuckyClaw, MSI’s agentic AI companion.” According to the press release, the cartoon can “enable seamless, hands-free control of performance profiles, MSI monitor settings, RGB lighting, and more.” If that sounds a little vague to you, don’t worry—it’ll get “future skill updates” for even more vague capabilities in the future. The “AI Holostage” display is also compatible with “digital companions, desktop pets, and custom third-party AI avatars.” Presumably that means you won’t be stuck with only MSI’s in-house, branded dragon dude.
I admit that the actual display tech here is neat. A little holographic avatar is something that I would have gone bonkers for a decade or so ago… before AI got associated with pretty much everything that’s poisoning the tech industry and beyond. While I’ve never been a fan of little add-on screens, I can appreciate a light show for a high-end desktop. A Tamagotchi-style pet, or an animated anime character of questionable taste, seems like a natural pairing.
But having tried out the aforementioned Razer product and being pretty much instantly soured on its actual utility, I can’t see the appeal for performance-minded PC gamers and other power users. Voice controls for something as fiddly as monitor settings sounds like a solution to a problem no one had. And I can’t help but wonder how much of a performance hit you’ll take from running the hardware required for an extra, animated avatar on your desktop, or whether offloading that requirement to an AI chatbot (which may come with a subscription?) will affect your network speeds.
MSI’s promotional imagery mentions Intel and Nvidia parts, but an actual breakdown of the hardware isn’t included. We’re probably months away from an actual release of the MEG Vision X2 AI+ at the very least. Expect to pay a huge premium later this year, or maybe in 2027, if you want to get your hands and eyes on it.

MSI
I did spot something a little more appealing in MSI’s Computex press bundle: new laptops with Van Gogh paintings on the lids. These are variants of the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ with either Starry Night or Starry Night Over the Rhône emblazoned on them, and a matching blue on the 14-inch aluminum chassis. It’s a nice option if you want something a little more permanent than a lid-covering vinyl sticker (and those usually aren’t available beyond mass market MacBooks and Surface laptops, anyway).
The Prestige 14 Flip AI+ is offered with Core Ultra 3 processors, an OLED display, and a claimed 30 hours of battery life. You can read PCWorld’s review of this model here, which starts at around $1,500. No word on whether the fancy paint job will cost extra.
