I know, I know. It’s barely September, and everyone’s already talking about the holidays. But, take it from me, cool advent calendars? They sell fast. So let’s talk advent calendars! Specifically the new series LEGO has released. There’s Star Wars, Disney, and Marvel on the menu. The Disney Princesses set features Mulan, Moana, Cinderella, and Ariel figures. Also along for the ride are some of the princesses’ pets, like Pua the pig from Moana, Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, and Mushu of Mulan fame. There’s also a cute little reindeer of indeterminate origin. Various small builds, and some fun objects for the gals to interact with, such as a pink grand piano and a toy train. There’s plenty of Christmas to go around too, like the Christmas tree and a holly-adorned mantel. Definitely a great gift for any Disney adults in your life!
Marvel’s calendar has a wide spread of superheroes, and one villain. Iron Man and Captain America, naturally, are on the scene. There’s a snowman version of Cap as well, which charmed me instantly. Wolverine makes an appearance in a light blue outfit that might be a callback to his Adamantium armor? Hard to say. It’s cute, regardless. Spider-Man (of the Peter Parker variety) is here, alongside Spiderverse’s Spider-Gwen. And of course, Dr. Doom is here to ruin the party.
Along with the familiar faces/masks are a series of tiny and fun vehicles, like a snowmobile and an airplane. There’s also a white and pink car with a tinted pink windshield and pink flames shooting out the back. Clearly Spider-Gwen’s ride of choice! There’s still Christmas cheer to be found here as well, like with a festive coffee bar, a little counter with tasty plastic holiday treats, and a table with a series of toys on them. Our heroes gotta take a break sometimes! Y’know, until Dr. Doom shows up…
The Star Wars: The Mandalorian calendar is packed with Easter Eggs from the show and Christmas delight. Mando and Grogu are taking the day, relaxing in their holiday sweaters and drinking some hard-earned hot chocolate. (Okay, there’s nothing in the mug, but in my heart it’s hot cocoa.) Greef Karga joins them in his own festive sweater. The IG-11 droid figure has already caught fandom attention, and could be considered the star of this particular set. (Get it? Star…Star Wars? Anyone?). There’s also numerous vehicles and creatures in this set. If you’re interested, head on over to LEGO’s site and take a peek. The sets will drop officially on September 14th, with the Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel sets retailing at $44.99, and the Friends: Girls on a Mission and LEGO City sets will cost $34.99 USD. Get ready to get nerdy this holiday season!
