A leading family office has allocated a bulk of its US equity bets into a specialized genomics company instead of loading up on artificial intelligence infrastructure leaders.
Stanley Druckenmiller’s Duquesne Family Office allocates roughly 17% of its reported US stock holdings to Natera (NTRA), which performs tumor profiling, prenatal screening, and organ transplant monitoring, reports Motley Fool.
Natera processed more than one million tests in Q2, while running 238,000 molecular residual disease (MRD) oncology tests to mark a 56% increase year over year.
Revenue reached $753 million, representing a 38 percent% from the prior year and prompting management to lift full-year guidance to between $2.85 billion and $2.91 billion.
Druckenmiller’s NTRA position traces back to purchases beginning in Q3 2022 at share prices between $35 and $50, with the stock now trading near $328. Following NTRA’s massive run, it now stands as Druckenmiller’s largest single US equity position by a wide margin in Duquesne’s roughly $5.2 billion portfolio.
The firm’s other holdings include Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet (GOOG) to capture cloud spending tied to AI workloads, though these represent far less of the overall book.
The office previously sold its Nvidia (NVDA) stake after the shares reached split-adjusted levels of $80 to $90 over valuation concerns. At time of publishing, NVDA is trading at $225. Meanwhile, Druckenmiller has also poured capital into Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM), a firm that builds Nvidia chips, to get exposure to the AI semiconductor play.
