Wells Fargo Refuses to Reimburse Customer After $39,000 Drained From Account — Then Reverses Denial After News Outlet Investigates Daily Hodl Agent | usagoldmines.com

A couple’s battle with Wells Fargo is coming to an end after the bank denied their claim when $39,000 was drained from their account.

The theft happened when slick scammers tricked the pair into sharing the one-time passcodes.

Charles Doyle says his wife answered a call that looked like Wells Fargo on caller ID, and the impersonators already had personal details including Social Security and account numbers, reports FOX23.

“He tricked my wife into giving them passcodes, which allowed them to move money out of my account… That was every last penny that we had.”

Thieves emptied the accounts and maxed out credit cards with cash advances for a total loss of about $39,000.

Wells Fargo denied the fraud claim, writing it was “unable to honor” the request after its investigation.

But after FOX23 contacted the bank and aired the story, corporate staff reopened the case and overturned the denial, restoring the accounts.

A Wells Fargo statement says,

“We are pleased we could resolve this matter for our customer.”
