Microsoft is still busy addressing the damage caused by updates released on September’s Patch Tuesday. The Windows audio issues in particular are proving stubborn and still remain unresolved.

Don’t expect a fix soon, as Microsoft doesn’t intend to fix Windows 11’s audio issues until October’s Patch Tuesday. Until then, affected Windows 11 users will have to put up with various USB audio issues on their systems.

As a reminder, here are the potential problems you may run into, which will remain unresolved until October 13th, 2026:

• Your device displays the following error message in Device Manager: “This device cannot be started (Code 10).”
• Your device has no audio output.
• Your device’s volume controls don’t respond or remain stuck at zero.
• Your device’s sound settings don’t respond or are unavailable.
• Your device may work in standard stereo configurations but fail when using multi-channel or 3D audio features.

Windows PCs with AMD Radeon GPUs—including the RX 6600, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, RX 7900 XTX, and RX 9070 XT—are still reporting driver timeouts, black screens, missing displays, and system crashes, even when not playing games.

And issues with both File Explorer and File History, introduced with September’s Patch Tuesday updates, remain unresolved. You may find that new backups aren’t being made and previously made backups are no longer available, making your files unrecoverable.

However, some problems have been fixed by an emergency update, including an issue affecting with Claude Cowork and Remote Desktop Services, as well as a fake Defender warning.
