Privacy has become a top concern not just for tech companies but also for users, given the growing number of breaches and violations erupting lately. Such matters are not taken lightly, as an air of fear and uncertainty, if evoked among users, can lead to mistrust in products and services. It is also natural that unfinished updates can sometimes cause bugs or lead to devices malfunctioning. Now, users are said to be experiencing voices coming from their iPhones and sharing concerns over the weird, unusual phenomenon.
Users are hearing voices coming from their iPhones, stirring a debate online about the potential cause of this weird situation
Users are increasingly sensitive about keeping their privacy intact, and when accidental breaches erupt, it is a point of concern and leads to mistrust. This seems to be the case for the iPhone lately, as two users have shared their odd experiences of hearing voices from their iPhones and wonder if it is a malfunction or a more daunting case.
About three days ago, a user posted on Reddit about hearing a man’s voice on the iPhone. Initially, it was taken as a YouTube video playing in the background, and when the user checked for any background apps playing, there were not any. In the post, the details suggested a man talking on his phone, and the user claimed that the person had even crashed his car. In the same post, a similar experience was heard of a man yelling through the iPhone some days after.
Another user claimed to have heard people’s conversations through his iPhone. Despite closing all the apps to ensure no app was auto-playing, the issue persisted. When no apparent logical explanation was found for the situation, the user inquired if others had a similar experience. Although Apple has not said anything about the issue yet, it could be that the company is waiting to see if more users experience this glitch before making a public statement about it, as it did in the case of iPadOS 18 bricking M4-powered devices.
Many people have shared varied possible explanations for the odd occurrences and suggested that it could most probably be an iOS 18 bug. It looks like this year is not Apple’s most optimal when it comes to operating systems, as the updates have left many feeling dismayed due to glitches that keep coming up. Some are even citing carbon monoxide exposure leading to auditory hallucinations and going a little far off with exploring the possibilities.
Whether hardware malfunction or a cross-connection caused the glitch, it has stirred a discussion online and shed light on users’ growing concerns about privacy and protection.
