Aave is also raising the stakes in decentralized finance (DeFi) by introducing a new feature, ZK Human Verification. It can now determine whether a user is an actual individual without access to their personal data.
With ZK Human Verification, Aave wants to ensure that reward campaigns are fair.
How It Works
The upgrade comes from Aave’s collaboration with Self, a zero-knowledge (ZK) identity solutions company. Aave utilizes zkPoH to ensure that each wallet has a single real owner without exposing personal data.
Verified users are even allowed to earn twice on USDT and WETH deposits. The integration will first launch on the Celo network. The Stabila Foundation supports it by promoting stablecoin adoption and real-world DeFi use cases.

Why It Matters
Self launched at EthDenver earlier this year. It has since collaborated with Google Cloud, Para, Velodrome, and Farcaster to implement ZK identity verification to Web3. It also works with biometric ID cards and passports from over 160 countries and is available worldwide.

Growing Real-World Use Cases
Google Cloud uses Self’s technology for its AI-powered Web3 search platform. Velodrome applies it for decentralized exchange identity checks. The adoption of Aave marks another milestone in the development of privacy-enhancing identity tools in DeFi.

Aave is ensuring that DeFi is more secure, fair, and rewarding to real people with ZK Human Verification. Some users in the past created multiple wallets to claim more rewards than they were eligible for. With this upgrade, only verified humans can claim rewards, making the system fairer and safer for everyone.
