The eighth and ninth episodes of Andor season two produced some of the best Star Wars content ever. Not just Star Wars, but some of the best television ever, period. And that’s in no small part thanks to the brilliant speech delivered by Senator Mon Mothma to the Imperial Senate, played perfectly by actress Genevieve O’Reilly in “Welcome to the Rebellion.” The entire speech is a mere two minutes long, but it will reverberate in Star Wars history forever. Now, a YouTuber named Gamerstrix has created a video of Mon Mothma’s speech, cut with scenes from throughout Andor’s two seasons, as well as Rogue One. You can watch the full video right here:
The video starts just as it does in the episode, with Senator Bail Organa (Benjamin Bratt) giving his friend Mon Mothma the floor, after telling her to “Tear the shit out of this place.” And boy, does she ever. O’Reilly delivers some of the most powerful dialogue ever in Star Wars, especially when she states “The death of truth if the ultimate victory of evil.” This video is cut with scenes from the Ghorman Massacre, from the previous episode. It also showcases several memorable scenes from season one. There’s even some Darth Vader in Rogue One thrown in for good measure.
Andor will sadly soon be over. But we hope that Lucasfilm finds a way to keep Genevieve O’Reilly in the mix as Mon Mothma. After all, she is the Chancellor of the New Republic post-Return of the Jedi, as seen in Ahsoka. Hopefully, that means we see her in Ahsoka season two in an expanded role. Or possibly in another future project. In the meantime, you can watch Mon Mothma’s brilliant Andor speech for a second, third, and maybe even a twentieth time.
