This upgrade is packed with changes that will make it easier for developers to build on Avalanche. It could also help the blockchain grow even faster.
Avalanche, which started in 2020, is now the tenth-largest blockchain by total value locked (TVL). The new features from the Avalanche9000 upgrade are aimed at making the network cheaper to use. This could encourage more developers to join in and build their own customized blockchains, called “subnets.”
So, what’s a subnet? Think of it like a mini blockchain that runs on Avalanche. Developers can create subnets to build apps or systems that suit their needs. With Avalanche9000, it’s now easier and cheaper to set up these subnets, which could bring even more innovation to the space.
Avalanche9000: Cheaper Validators and Easier Blockchain Creation
This upgrade, also called the Etna upgrade, includes seven major changes, but two of them are the biggest deals. The first one, ACP-77, introduces a new type of validator. Validators are like the referees in a sports game—they make sure everything is running smoothly and fairly.
With ACP-77, these new validators are cheaper to run, which means more people can start their subnets on Avalanche without breaking the bank.
…hundreds of Avalanche L1s launching
Avalanche9000 reduces the cost to deploy an L1 by 99.9%, and with hundreds of L1s being developed on testnet, look out for an explosion of launches in the coming months. pic.twitter.com/llODwibt0c

Avalanche9000: Lower Transaction Costs to Boost Usage and Development
The second big change, ACP-125, lowers the cost of sending transactions on the main Avalanche network, called the C-chain. Before the upgrade, it cost 25 nAVAX to process a transaction, but now it only costs 1 nAVAX. Don’t worry if that sounds confusing—1 nAVAX is just one-billionth of an AVAX coin. This price drop will help make it cheaper for people to use the network and run smart contracts.
…many L1s that all feel like 1

By making it cheaper to build and use applications on Avalanche, the team behind the blockchain hopes to attract more developers and businesses to join the platform. With these new changes, Avalanche could become an even bigger player in the world of blockchain, helping people create their networks and apps with ease.
