AVENGERS DOOMSDAY May Link X-Men to SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Eric Diaz | usagoldmines.com

In the latest Avengers: Doomsday teaser, we finally get our first glimpse of the X-Men in the MCU. And these are our classic Fox-era mutants, including Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops. In a moment fans have been waiting 25 years for, we see Cyclops in his classic Jim Lee-designed X-Men: The Animated Series costume. He’s screaming in agony, as the X-Mansion lies in ruins around him. This occurs as he shoots out a powerful optic blast into the sky. But why this primal scream? We actually think it ties into Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Sadie Sink’s role in it. And the other recent Doomsday teasers provide clues as to why.

In the Steve Rogers-centric teaser, we see that the former Captain America is now a father. The Thor teaser focused on Chris Hemsworth as the Odinson, being a father to the child Love. Parenthood is clearly a running theme in these teasers. And folks who have seen the fourth Doomsday teaser say it deals with the Fantastic Four looking for their missing child, Franklin. Could the plot of Doomsday involve Doctor Doom taking the powerful children of known heroes for his own ends? If so, is Cyclops enraged over his own child being abducted? And which child is it? Our theory leads us straight to Marvel’s other 2026 release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Ever since Stranger Things star Sadie Sink was cast in Brand New Day, her role has remained a big secret. Some believed she was the Earth-616 version of Jean Grey, debuting ahead of the X-Men reboot. But another rumor suggests she’s Rachel Summers, the teenage daughter of Cyclops and Jean. This would explain why Sink is reportedly also in Avengers: Secret Wars. Rachel has been a fixture in the comics for decades, hailing from the dystopian timeline of Days of Future Past. Escaping that world, she sought refuge at Xavier’s School in the past of the main timeline. She kept her “parents,” Scott and Jean, in the dark about who she really was for years. Rachel inherited the psychic powers of her mother, and even hosted the Phoenix Force.

Could Doctor Doom have attacked the X-Men on Earth-10005, and perhaps even killed Jean Grey, taking her and Scott’s child? It would explain why Scott Summers is in such anguish. Not to mention, why Marvel never asked Famke Janssen to return as Jean Grey. Perhaps Doom hid their child Rachel on Earth-616, with no way for her to get home, and she came of age in an alternate reality. That would certainly be a fun nod to her Marvel Comics origins. In the comics, Sentinels took over Rachel’s Earth when she was a kid, killing her parents, along with most mutants. Anti-mutant humans brainwashed her and turned her into a “Hound,” a mutant that hunts other mutants.

If this is the Fox X-Men timeline, you may be asking yourself, “When the heck did Scott and Jean have a kid? Didn’t they both die in X-Men: The Last Stand?” Indeed, they did, but Logan’s time-traveling shenanigans in X-Men: Days of Future Past changed the timeline. Wolverine ultimately emerged in a version of 2023 where Scott and Jean never died, and the main X-Men were all alive. They only have cameos, but they could have easily had a kid in this timeline. We just didn’t see that child. Our hunch is that these X-Men we meet in Doomsday are from this “fixed” timeline, and that is where Rachel is from. We’ll have to wait for summer when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits to find out if Sadie Sink truly is the child of two X-Men legends, or someone else entirely.
