Bitcoin | Texas Firm Handing Out up to $5,000 per Person After Data Breach Exposed Names, Social Security Numbers and More Mark Emem | usagoldmines.com

A Texas construction firm has agreed to compensate individuals whose sensitive information was exposed in a data breach.

According to the settlement administrator’s portal, Mason Construction will pay between $55 to $5,000 per individual to settle a class action lawsuit that accused the Beaumont, Texas-headquartered firm of exhibiting negligence and insufficient data security in handling “highly sensitive personally identifiable information.”

Victims who suffered losses between January 6th of 2024 to January 1st of 2026, as a direct result of identity theft or fraud related to the data breach, could get up to $5,000 upon providing documented proof. Payments of up to $500 will also be provided for expenses incurred in replacing IDs, credit monitoring or freezing or unfreezing credit.

Additionally, the time lost responding to the data breach will also be compensated for at the rate of $25 per hour for a maximum of three hours.

According to the class action lawsuit that was filed in March of 2025, an unauthorized user accessed the data in question between January 6th of 2024 and January 20th of 2024.

“The review confirmed that names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government-issued ID numbers (e.g., passports and state ID cards), financial information (e.g., account numbers and credit or debit card numbers), medical information, and health insurance information (collectively, “Private Information”) were stolen during the Data Breach.”

The claims for compensation must be filed by June 1st. The final approval hearing will take place on June 4th.

Despite agreeing to the settlement, Mason Construction denies any wrongdoing. The court has also not ruled in favor of either the plaintiffs or the defendant.
