Samsung’s foldable flip phone is reportedly gearing up for a big change, as next year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 is reportedly planning to ditch Snapdragon chips for Exynos.

There have been rumblings that Samsung could start using Exynos chips in its foldables which, in and of itself would be a considerable change. To date, Samsung has exclusively used Snapdragon chips in its foldables globally. However, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will apparently be switching to the Exynos 2500 instead.

Chosun reports that Samsung will use the Exynos 2500 in both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip FE in 2025, and they won’t be the only ones. Apparently, Samsung plans to keep this move in place, with future Flips also using Exynos instead of Snapdragon.

Samsung was planning to use Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 series, but switched to a Snapdragon-only plan due to poor yield of the 3nm chip from Samsung’s foundry. Apparently, though, the company has “stabilized” production and in turn plans to use the chip in its upcoming Flip devices. There’s no word on if the Fold will make the same switch just yet.

What also remains unclear is whether Samsung will be making this switch on a global basis. Many Galaxy S devices have used Snapdragon in some regions and Exynos in others, and it remains to be seen which route the Flip will go down.
