In 2023, Insight Editions gave movie lovers a spicy behind-the-scenes look at one of this century’s most beautiful films with a beautiful book. Dune: Part One: The Photography showed how Denis Villeneuve brought Frank Herbert’s iconic novel back to the big screen. Now the publisher is letting viewers see how the director followed up his epic adaptation with an even bigger sequel. And Nerdist has your exclusive first look at some of the images you’ll find in Dune: Part Two: The Photography.

Dune: Part Two took its cast and crew all over the world. The movie filmed in Budapest, Hungary, Altivole, Italy, Jordan, and Abu Dhabi. And photographer Niko Tavernise was there every step of the way documenting the production.
You’ll be able to see hundreds of his photos of the production in Insight Editions new deluxe book when it arrives on shelves everywhere November 4, 2025. This massive collection, which comes in a massive book measuring 11 x 1.2 x 10 inches, includes select images that capture what it was like to move around the globe with the film. Only, you don’t have to wait until Novmeber get a sneak peek at some of them right now.

Tavernise might have been taking photos during the making of a serious sci-fi fantasy, but these pictures show the people working on the film still had plenty of fun. Turns out playing Gurney Halleck doesn’t make you forget how to actually smile.
These stunning visuals also highlight why Villeneuve’s films have looked so incredible. They show just how much the director used real-world settings, elaborate costumes, and practical effects to create a breathtaking cinematic experience. These photos look amazing without the special effects used in the movie.

No wonder everyone was so happy when the (film) cameras turned off. Imagine being a part of this movie every day? Standing alongside your world-class colleagues and watching the sun rise above a swirling sand storm?
It’s enough to make even the Kwisatz Haderach grin. And these pictures prove that was true.
Editor’s Note: Legendary Entertainment produced Dune: Part Two. Nerdist is a subsidiary of Legendary Digital Networks.
