Godzilla and Kong Rampage Over LA in Epic MONARCH Drone Show Eric Diaz | usagoldmines.com

At least in movies, neither Godzilla nor Kong has ever attacked the city of Los Angeles. Although in some comic books, Godzilla has unleashed his atomic fire on Hollywood. (Way to show gratitude, ya big meanie). But on February 20, as a way of celebrating their long-awaited return in the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, both Godzilla and Kong have come to LA at last. And they’ve done so in the form of the world’s tallest drone show. And even Monarch star and cinema icon Kurt Russell, who plays the older Lee Shaw, was on hand for the big (or should we say tall) drone event. He even arrived in a Monarch company jeep. You can watch a highlight video of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters — The Tallest Drone Show right here:

Not only were King of the Monsters and the Lord of Skull Island rampaging at full size, smashing aircraft, but there was another giant beast among them. Is that Titan X, the new “Big Bad” of Monarch season two? We have a strong feeling that it is. We like that there were drone helicopters too; that was another nice touch. The Monarch: Legacy of Monsters drone show had another special Hollywood connection, as it launched from the grounds of Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Not only is that the final resting place of several cinematic icons, but it’s also home to Cinespia outdoor screenings, a Los Angeles summer moviegoing staple. See how fast those boys immediately became Angelenos?

The 12-minute show used 3,000 drones to build three-dimensional figures nearly 500 feet tall. The display spanned roughly 1,000 feet by 1,000 feet—about the footprint of three football fields—and was visible from miles away. Organizers said the formation set a Guinness World Record for the tallest aerial depiction of a fictional character created with drones! It’s exactly the kind of drone show that Godzilla and Kong deserve.

Will the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters — The Tallest Drone Show come to other cities? It sure feels as if Godzilla hasn’t attacked San Francisco in a minute, and it’s right up the coast. And Kong has never stood atop the Golden Gate Bridge that we know of. We’ll refrain from recommending Tokyo; they’ve had enough of the big lizard for now. In the meantime, you can check out both Godzilla and Kong in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two, which is currently streaming on Apple TV+.
