The Halloween movie franchise is currently on a break, after Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode killed Michael Myers for the last time in Halloween Ends. While we might not have a movie in the franchise coming anytime soon, a new asymmetric stealth horror game from developer and publisher IllFonic and Gun Interactive is coming next year. And we’ve now got our first gameplay trailer for Halloween, showing Michael Myers unleashing his reign of terror on unsuspecting Haddonfield, Illinois. In the new Halloween game, you’ll be able to play as a civilian, rescue townsfolk, and gather weapons. Or, you can play as “The Shape” himself, Michael Myers, and lurk in the shadows. Then, you’d use terrifying powers as “evil itself,” as Dr. Loomis called him, to strike without warning. The game takes place on the exact same night as Halloween and Halloween II, October 31, 1978. And the developers have gone to great lengths to recreate that ’70s American suburbia vibe from John Carpenter’s iconic film. There’s even a house with an avocado green refrigerator, a truly accurate ’70s detail if ever there was.
If you play as Michael Myers, the game will offer a ‘Shape Jump” mode that allows you to become invisible. This is the game’s visualization of how Michael seemingly disappears into thin air in the movie franchise. Compass International Pictures and Further Front teamed up to create Halloween. It becomes available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026. September 8 is famously Star Trek Day, the day the series debuted back in 1966. Halloween launching on that day is quite fitting. And that’s because Michael Myers’ iconic mask is a repaint of a William Shatner/Captain Kirk mask. It was seemingly meant to be.
