When sales reps are on the field, they often need to search for nearby locations to schedule another meeting or meet business objectives. Visualizing Dynamics CRM records or any organizational data on the map can help them perform actions directly on the map itself. AppJetty MappyField 365 is a Dynamics CRM mapping plugin that allows CRM users to plot and analyze CRM records on a map. The MappyField 365 map is integrated with Bing Maps, making it easy to track and analyze CRM records and data on the map.
For example, Kevin, a sales area manager, has a meeting with a client who is a production manager. Kevin arrives at the client’s location for the meeting and provides a product demo. After the discussion, Kevin learns that to fulfill the order, he needs to contact suppliers to provide sample materials. Therefore, Kevin must search for suppliers near his current location.
MappyField 365 offers a “Proximity Search” functionality, enabling users to find nearby Dynamics CRM records such as customers, leads, suppliers, and more on the map and perform relevant actions. With concentric proximity search (Radius Search), users can identify CRM records within multiple proximity distances from their current location.
This allows Kevin to quickly find nearby suppliers to provide sample materials for the production manager. He can easily search nearby CRM records (suppliers) using the “Proximity Search” feature. In this blog, we will explain how to search for nearby records/locations using Proximity Search based on the current location.
Step 1: Redirect to the “Map” page
Once you’ve logged into Dynamics 365, select “MappyField 365” from the Dynamics 365 apps dashboard.
By default, you will be directed to the “Map view” of MappyField 365 with all the standard configurations. The map will display the default location marker along with its address details in the MappyField 365 menu.
Step 2: Plot the required entity records
Choose the ‘Entity’ and select ‘View Records’ to display the records on the map according to your requirements.
The entity records are displayed on the map, allowing you to perform various actions and activities directly from the map interface.
Step 3: Set ‘Current Location’ or ‘Default Location’
You can search for nearby suppliers based on either your “Current Location” or “Default Location.” The current location can be set to reflect your client’s location, where you might have appointments or meetings.
For example, Kevin, a sales area manager, can set his current location to find nearby suppliers on the map. This allows him to contact a supplier directly or share the supplier’s contact details with the client to facilitate access to sample materials.
To set a location, simply right-click on the desired spot on the map. In the context menu that appears, select either “Set as Current Location” or “Set as Default Location,” depending on your needs.
You can set the ‘Default Location’ through the context menu. Clicking ‘Save Settings’ will store the selected location as the default.
Note: If you set the current location, it will be displayed temporarily until you reload the map or log in again. However, the default location will be saved within the map configuration.
The location is now set. You can view the address details in the ‘Location’ details edit box.
Here, Kevin has set the current location, so he can search for nearby suppliers who can provide the product’s sample material as soon as possible.
Step 4: Plot the required entity records
By accessing the ‘Plot’ menu, you can find the ‘Search Options’ to explore entity records. Selecting the Proximity search option allows users to locate nearby Dynamics CRM records. This feature helps Dynamics CRM users conveniently find nearby entities to carry out activities such as scheduling appointments, making calls, and more.
You can search nearby entity records by ‘Distance’ (km/Mile) or ‘Time’.
Step 4.1: Search nearby records based on the Distance
Choose the “Distance” option to conduct a concentric proximity search using three different distance values. This allows you to find nearby records based on a specified distance, measured in kilometers or miles. Simply select your preferred unit of measurement and enter the desired values.
Clicking the “Search” button will display search results on the map based on the specified Proximity values.
Clicking on any pushpin will display the details of the selected record on the right side.
In this way, Kevin, a sales area manager, gets the details of the supplier using a Proximity search and contacts the supplier who is near his current location or performs such activities.
Step 4.2: Search nearby records based on the Time
Select the “Time” option to perform a concentric proximity search based on travel duration. Enter the desired “time value” in minutes to find CRM records within a specified travel time from a given location.
Clicking the “Search” button will display the map results based on the travel time to your preferred location.
Kevin, as sales area manager, can search the nearby suppliers’ records in a certain timespan as possible. He will get the suppliers’ records on the map in terms of traveling distance from the selected location.
By clicking on the individual records (pushpins), you can perform such activities for the records.
In this way, the Proximity Search feature of the “MappyField 365”, helps in strategic marketing campaigns, finding nearby records to schedule an appointment/task from the map itself, and making quick decisions based on the search results.
AppJetty MappyField 365 can help to give a better analysis using geo-locational visualization of Dynamics CRM records on the map. Other features will help to track the CRM activities, manage and schedule the activities from the map itself, and as the Bing map integrated, perform location search.
