New to Prime Day? We have a primer on everything you need to know. Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
When it comes to choosing from among the best Android phones, you want to pick a handset that hits the sweet spot between price and performance—and there’s a strong case to be made that the Pixel 9a does that better than any other phone. In fact, we called it “arguably the best Google phone yet” in our full Google Pixel 9a review.
That’s quite a claim, especially with handsets like the Google Pixel 9 Pro around, but it’s one I’m inclined to agree with. The Pixel 9a gives you an awful lot of bang for your buck, and that’s particularly the case now Amazon is offering it for $423.99 in black, down from $499 and the cheapest it’s ever been on Amazon.
What you get
So what are you getting for your money? The same Tensor G4 chipset that’s in the much more expensive Pixel 9 Pro, plus a very capable dual-lens rear camera, a 6.3-inch OLED display capable of 120 Hz refresh rates, 8GB of RAM, and all the usual Gemini AI goodies that Google likes to pack into its Pixel phones.
The question is, why you would pay any more for a phone when the Pixel 9a offers so much, and at a price that’s more appealing than ever? Also, and this is something of a subjective take, but I’d rather have a phone that can lay down flat on a surface, minus the giant camera bar that other recent Pixel phones wear so proudly.
