In an era of tariffs, we expect prices to go up. Intel is doing the opposite: lowering the price of two “Arrow Lake” desktop processors instead.

Intel is trimming the price of the Core Ultra 7 265K by $100 to $299, previously $399—basically 25 percent off. Intel has also cut the price of the Core Ultra 7 265KF by $100, down to $284 from an earlier $384. The chip manufacturer isn’t discounting the high-end Intel 285K in the Arrow Lake desktop family, and it’s leaving the 245K chips alone, too.

Arrow Lake (the Core Ultra 2xx series) received lukewarm reviews, so it’s not unexpected that Intel would discount the chips to try and persuade buyers to snap them up. Intel is also attempting to use software bundles with qualifying products to help sell some of its Arrow Lake chips.

PC makers have said previously that processors from AMD and Intel should be free of the administration’s China tariff, though it’s not clear whether these chips will be subject to any semiconductor tariff. Still, any discount is a good thing, right?
