Jeff Bridges’ Flynn Lives in Epic New TRON: ARES Trailer Michael Walsh | usagoldmines.com

In its first two movies Tron took Users into the digital world. Now the digital world is coming for ours. The upcoming third film in the franchise, Tron: Ares, will see Programs leaving behind their computer realm to try and conquer ours. That’s a big change for the series, but one thing isn’t changing: “Flynn Lives.” That’s the title of the sequel’s newest trailer, which shows that even as artificial intelligence makes light-filled inroads into the world of flesh and blood in Tron, Jeff Bridges remains the bridge between both real and digital.

If you’re like me, an unapologetic Tron fan, this latest look at Tron: Ares is pure User catnip. It’s not just about the newest installment in the franchise. It’s about the road the series has taken to get to this point. Or rather, the road driven on by cycles racing on ribbons of light.

But while Bridges’ Flynn might still be living in the digital world, as we saw in Tron: Legacy, where he stayed behind to save his son, the action is moving to his former realm. Tron: Ares is making Programs real. Here’s the film’s official synopsis from Disney:

Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.

As this “Flynn Lives” Tron: Ares trailer makes clear, inviting the world of computers into the world of humanity will not go according to plan. And in the same way humans needed to save the digital dimension, a Program will need to save mankind.

Tron: Ares comes from director Joachim Rønning (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil). It also stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson. The score comes from Nine Inch Nails.

We’ll find out if Bridges’ Flynn will still live, in either dimension, when Tron: Ares begins its game in theaters on October 10.
