Lara Croft is officially back on the job. The iconic video game character is returning to the screen. Only this time it’s with her very own star-studded live-action TV series at Prime Video. And now that production on the series is officially underway, the studio has given us our first look at Sophie Turner as the famous archaeologist. And she looks really freaking cool. Sophie Turner Arrives as Sansa Stark in Prime Video’s Tomb Raider
Amazon MGM Studios celebrated the start of production on its upcoming Tomb Raider series with the show’s first official image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. Fittingly for the occasion, this photo comes from the backlot of the Tomb Raider production stages. (Also, yeah, it’s okay to nerd out. How could you not?)
It’s a role the former Sansa Stark has trained for intensely since last February. Considering that iconic costume and the demanding nature of the part, we can certainly understand why.
The Cast of Tomb Raider: Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, and More Join Sophie Turner
Turner is far from the Tomb Raider‘s only big name. The Prime Video series has more of our favorite faces. It will feature both Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs. Prime Video’s Tomb Raider will also star Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein. Many of your favorite figures from the world of Tomb Raider made the cut. The show features “a plethora of iconic characters” along with “a few new rascals.” That’s what creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) said. Chad Hodge is also serving double duty as co-showrunner and executive producer. Fellow executive producer Jonathan Van Tulleken also directs. signed on as director. Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics, and Amazon MGM Studios are jointly producing.
Do We Have a Release Date for Prime Video’s Tomb Raider?
While this first-look image of Lara Croft is a chance to see Sophie Turner as one of the most beloved, legendary characters in video game history, there’s still so much we don’t know about the highly secretive Tomb Raider show. And with production just getting underway, it could be a while before we even see any footage, let alone a trailer or even a release date. But this photo is enough, because just knowing Lara Croft is back on the job makes today a good day.
