Every year when the spooky season gives way to the holiday season we must bid farewell to our favorite mass pop-up store, Spirit Halloween. Or at least we did. This year the retail chain is sticking around for the most wonderful time of the year. Rather than close down entirely, Spirit Halloween will instead open 10 locations as Spirit Christmas.
Spirit Halloween
Spirit Halloween won’t entirely disappear after trick-or-treaters get home with their candy. The company has announced (in news we first heard at People) it’s re-theming for winter’s arrival. It will operate 10 stores in the northeast as Spirit Christmas.
Some of the locations will replace Spirit Halloweens while some will open in entirely new buildings. They’ll be located in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. The store in Mays Landing, New Jersey will be the first to open on October 18. The other nine will follow in early November. They will then stay open through Christmas.
The company is really getting into the spirt of the season, too. People says customers will find a collection of “holiday décor, apparel, inflatables, gifts, and stocking stuffers” for sale, but that’s just part of the fun. Visitors can also pre-book free visits with Santa Claus so they can get a free digital postcard. And Spirit Christmas will also have a “life-sized gingerbread village” to mail letters to Old St. Nick.
Spirit Halloween
Ditching ghouls and ghosts for reindeer and elves when the season changes makes sense. So much so that we’re surprised Spirit Halloween didn’t think of this already. The company already has the infrastructure in place when the holiday season arrives, who not take advantage of it? And if these 10 stores do well (which we bet they will), Spirit Christmas will almost certainly expand to more and more locations in the coming years.
Spirit Easter is probably still a ways away from happening, though.
