All good things must come to an end. All bad things, too. In the case of Squid Game both are true. The popular Netflix series is ready to end its deadly contest once and for all. But the show isn’t going quietly. Squid Game‘s final trailer indicates the most notorious “game show” on TV has saved its most intense, most emotional competition for its last round.
The last ever trailer for Squid Game shows that creator/writer/director Hwang Dong-hyuk is sending off his series in style in its third and final season. That style will involve decorating with a whole lot of black, pink, and (of course) blood. This final teaser also reminds us of the horrible journey Lee Jung-jae’s Gi-hu has been on since he first joined the in-universe reality show.
But while this dystopian game has had plenty of ultimate losers, who will be its ultimate winner? That is if it even has one. Here’s season three’s official synopsis from Netflix.
The third and final season of Squid Game follows Gi-hun after losing his best friend in the game and being driven to utter despair by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who was hiding his true identity to infiltrate the game. Gi-hun persists with his goal to put an end to the game, while the Front Man continues onto his next move and the surviving players’ choices will lead to graver consequences with each round.
If after all this Gi-hun doesn’t survive we’re going to….not really be that surprised. But that doesn’t mean we’re going to be happy about it! If he is slated to win by “losing,” we just hope those “bad people” referenced in this trailer lose, too.
We’ll find out if anyone wins when Squid Game‘s third and final round of episodes debuts at Netflix on June 27.
