The first two seasons of Star Wars: Visions blew fans away with a unique version of the galaxy far, far away. Japanese anime directly inspired this new iteration, a version not tied to the overall continuity of the franchise. At Star Wars: Celebration in Japan, Lucasfilm announced a third season of the fan-favorite Visions, landing on Disney+ on October 29. The new season of Visions will include three different sequels to shorts from season one. Among them are “The Duel: Payback,” and “The Lost Ones,” a sequel to “The Village Bride.” Most surprisingly, they also announced a new spin-off, Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi.
The Ninth Jedi writer and director Kenji Kamiyama announced the new spin-off series on stage at Star Wars Celebration. He enthusiastically thanked the loyal fans for embracing the characters of Kara and Jedi Master Juro from “The Ninth Jedi,” despite just one appearance. He revealed that the upcoming sequel episode in Visions would continue their Jedi journey. To everyone’s surprise, he also announced that fans can watch Kara’s journey continue in a new spinoff called Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi.
Star Wars: Visions first premiered on Disney+ back in 2021, as a series of nine animated shorts. The episode titled “The Ninth Jedi” focused on the daughter of a lightsaber-smith. It took place in a universe where lightsaber color is determined by the user’s emotion. In that animated short, Chinatsu Akasaki voiced Lah Kara and Tetsuo Kanao voiced the role of Margrave Juro. The second season of Star Wars: Visions arrived in 2023. The upcoming third seasons will include a short called Child of Hope. This continues the Ninth Jedi story following Kara and Juro. This will lead directly into The Ninth Jedi limited series which will premiere sometime the following year.
