Broken Lizard is heading back out on patrol. The comedy group is returning to its mustachioed roots with Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers. And while we’re sure their next shift on the big screen will once again involve plenty of maple syrup, bad police work, and messing with motorists, it will also feature some all new faces. Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudnitsky, and Lisa Gilroy have joined the cast of Super Troopers 3.
Deadline reports Broken Lizard and Searchlight Pictures are bringing Jaffrey (Red Sparrow), Rudnitsky (Saturday Night Live), and Gilroy (Twisted Metal) to the silly world of Super Troopers 3. It’s unclear who they’ll be playing, though. The comedy troupe and studio have yet to release any details about the film. But if you want to read way too much into this casting we can do that.
Gilroy was born in Canada. Our fabulous neighbors to the north played a big role in 2018’s Super Troopers 2. Considering the title of the film includes the term Winter Soldiers and, you know, other….uh….things….going on in the world lately, we think Canada will once again be a big part of the film. We’re prepared for an army of angry Canucks to fight back against America. With only these guys to keep the peace.
The members of Broken Lizard wrote the script for the third film in the franchise. Jay Chandrasekhar will direct. The rest of the raucous gang—Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske—will return as the most unprofessional but secretly competent law enforcement officers in North America. As will their boss, Brian Cox. He will return as Captain John O’Hagen. The film will also see Marisa Coughlan back as Chief Ursula Hansen. It will also star Nat Faxon, Chace Crawford, Andrew Dismukes, Hannah Simone, and Iqbal Theba.
Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers does not yet have a release date. But considering what we know about those cops, they’ll get to work when they feel like. Or maybe only after Canada invades.
