The Simpsons have been around for a loooong time. Quickly approaching is the monumental 800th (with emphasis) episode. To put it into perspective, that’s more episodes than days over two and a half years. Naturally, to celebrate a landmark achievement like this, you have to go big. And so they have. The Simpsons has announced a star-studded cast to join its 800th episode, including Kevin Bacon, Noah Wyle, Quinta Brunson, and Boyz II Men.
The Simpsons’ 800th episode, entitled “Irrational Treasure,” comes out Sunday, February 15. Those with a sharp ear will notice quite a few famous voices sprinkled in among the regulars. First, The Pitt co-stars Katherine LaNasa and Taylor Dearden join the cast as medical personnel. As previously mentioned, Bacon and Wyle will play a concierge and a doctor, respectively (sounds familiar for Wyle). Keeping the party rolling, Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson voices Adrienne, while Questlove voices a tour guide. Boyz II Men provides the music.
The episode sees the yellow family travel to the National Dog Show in Philly, where they quickly become swept up in some “historical conspiracy adventure.” It clearly pays homage to National Treasure. Too bad they couldn’t get Nicolas Cage on the other line. The full episode description is as follows:
“Marge’s crusade to get the family dog in better shape leads to her entering Santa’s Little Helper in canine agility competitions and a trip to the National Dog Show in Philadelphia. There, Marge and Homer suddenly find themselves — and the dog — mixed up in a historical conspiracy adventure worthy of a National Treasure movie.”
The Simpsons Live Forever
For the 800th episode, Boyz II Men will warble a special version of the show’s opening number, as well as give their own rendition of the end title music. The long-running show has already been renewed until its 40th season, which means it will remain on-air through at least 2029. The Simpsons will outlive us all.
