The Asus Vivobook 16 is definitely a budget model, though with a $750 starting price it’s not exactly fantastic competition in that range. But the spec list is everything you need in a basic laptop, with the 16GB of DDR5 memory drawing my eye in particular. (That’s the least I would recommend for Windows 11 in 2025.) The AMD Ryzen AI 330 is also darn good at this price, offering quad-core performance and Radeon 820M graphics for some light gaming capabilities.

But the battery isn’t amazing for the size at 42 watt-hours, and this laptop does not have a touchscreen.

All that said, it’s getting really hard to find a new Windows laptop with a decent processor and 16 gigs of RAM under the $500 mark. This Asus design should handle pretty much anything a regular user can throw at it, so long as you don’t need high-end media creation or heavy 3D gaming.
