New to Prime Day? We have a primer on everything you need to know. Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
I have an annoying habit of taking far too long to acknowledge it’s time to buy a tool. I have been a real pest over the last few years borrowing ladders from neighbors, but I simply didn’t have a place to store one. They’re large and cumbersome, and it wasn’t until my neighbor pointed out I used his ladder more than he did that I knew it was time to buckle down and adult my way to the hardware store.
I’m glad I did, because I ended up falling down the rabbit hole of researching ladders. Instead of borrowing the rickety, safety hazard that was always too tall or too short, I ended up with a configurable ladder that is always perfect for the job: The Soctone Ladder can be set up a bunch of different ways to fit into any space, and it’s on sale right now for Prime Day.
The best aspect of the Soctone is that in its most compact state, it fits almost anywhere. (I tuck mine behind my tall propane tank by my garage.) When you want to use it, you decide what configuration you want to use: While the ladder looks like a basic A frame, you can turn it into one long leaning ladder that reaches fifteen feet, or you can set it up as a tall A frame of five feet, or a short one, like a step-ladder. The feature I really like is that you can extend only one of the sides, so if you’re in a weird space like on the stairs—or anywhere the ground is uneven—the ladder will still work and be stable.
The ladder feels safe: It’s heavy (at 33 pounds), but it’s solid. It’s rated for 330 pounds, so I never worry when I’m on it, even on the top step. I chose the Soctone because of the stabilizer bars that can extend out from the base, which other ladders don’t have. My ladder never sinks into the mud or dirt because of those bars. When I’m done, I just fold it all up again to store it (it only takes a moment). And now, I’m the person with the ladder to loan out.
The 14.5-foot Soctone Ladder is regularly $144.99, but right now it’s 24% off for Prime Day, down to $109.99. I chose the 14.5-foot version simply because it was all the height I found I’d need, but it comes in a variety of other sizes, most of which are also on sale for Prime Day.
