It may be true that no one mourns the wicked, but we sure have been mourning a year without Wicked. Soon, the wait will be over as we look forward to its follow-up, Wicked: For Good. In the meantime, NBC has released first look images at its November 6 primetime musical special, Wicked: One Wonderful Night—airing just 15 days ahead of the eagerly awaited sequel.
For two spectacular hours, the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles will transform into the dazzling emerald city. Set to take the stage are the wonderfully-talented Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who will sing and dance in front of a live studio audience. Joining them are co-stars Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa Bod. Director John M. Chu and legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Schwart will also appear.
According to NBC, the show includes “reimagined musical arrangements, cast interviews, behind-the-scenes moments, exclusive surprises and maybe even a sneak peek at what’s to come in the next chapter of Oz.” Fans can also expect to see a few surprise guest appearances.
The special has already been filmed at the Dolby Theater, complete with a remarkable 37-piece live orchestra led by Tony Award-winning musical director Stephen Oremus. With show-stopping choreography and original cast performances that do all but defy gravity, Wicked fans are truly in for a treat. Wicked: One Wonderful Night airs live on NBC on November 6 from 8-10 PM ET. It will be available to stream on Peacock the next day.

As part of the promotional push for Wicked: For Good, the network has also set the broadcast premiere for Wicked. If you care to find it, look to your local NBC station on November 19, two days ahead of For Good’s release. The program will run for three and a half hours (including commercials) starting at 8 PM ET.
All of this Wicked excitement has us just about ready to break into song. Come next month, you’ll be sure to catch us dancing through life and all the way down to our nearest theater. Wicked: For Good arrives on November 21.
