Last year, Wicked left many fans in tears at theaters for good reason. Poor Elphaba discovers that the Wizard of Oz isn’t who she thought he was after all. Her defiance against him and choice to defend oppressed animals leads to her becoming a public enemy. Glinda stays behind as the events leave a fracture between her and Elphaba. Now, we will get to see the conclusion in part two. The trailer for Wicked: For Good sets up this story’s next and final chapter and shows us a glimpse of Dorothy and her friends.
In the clip, Elphaba and Glinda’s lives are on two totally different paths. Elphaba is exiled and trying to still defend Oz’s animals as well as expose the truth about the Wizard. We truly grew up thinking that this was a good guy.
Glinda is now the beacon of beauty and good, with Morrible guiding her every step as she becomes infamous across the land. Her attempts to bring a civil resolution between the Wizard and Elphaba don’t go well. Now, the duo must figure out how to save Oz from falling apart.
Wicked: For Good Will Show More Dorothy
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Wicked: For Good director John M. Chu said that this film will indeed include more Dorothy than the stage play. We do see glimpses of her in the trailer and there is someone cast as Dorothy. But just how much of her will actually appear does remain to be seen. The primary focus will still remain on Elphaba and Glinda, even with the events of The Wizard of Oz intersecting into this story.
“That intersection is the place that we were first introduced into Oz,” he said. “We tread lightly, but try to make more sense of how it impacts our girls and our characters than maybe the show does.”
What Is the Release Date for Wicked: For Good?
The Wicked: For Good trailer makes us want to teleport ourselves to this fall. We cannot wait to see this dazzling conclusion on screen when it hits theaters on November 21.
