William Shatner Tells Fans Rumors of His Demise Were Exaggerated Eric Diaz | usagoldmines.com

William Shatner is a true living legend, especially in the nerdosphere. The 94-year-old actor, who became an icon as Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise, has remained ubiquitous in pop culture for decades. However, given his advanced age, any medical incident he experiences prompts a wave of panic among his fans. Such was the case when TMZ reported that Shatner was hospitalized for a medical emergency on Wednesday, September 24. But via Variety, we learned that the iconic actor quickly took to Instagram, paraphrasing Mark Twain, saying, “Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!”

Shatner later added a comment saying, “I overindulged. I thank you all for caring, but I’m perfectly fine. I keep telling you all: don’t trust tabloids or AI!” The tabloid comment seems like a direct jab at TMZ. Shatner’s representation informed the press that Shatner had visited the hospital due to a blood sugar incident. Hence the “overindulged” comment. But medical staff treated and released him the very same day. And just like that, Shatner took to social media and got cheeky about it. Possibly no celebrity of Shatner’s age loves to post on social media as much as he does, so it was nice to see that hasn’t changed at all.

Shatner continues to be a workhorse, despite being a nonagenarian. He’s still the host of History Channel’s The UnXplained, which drops new episodes this fall. He recently joined fellow sci-fi icon Mark Hamill in providing the voice of Skeletor in Masters of the Universe: Revolution. Oh yeah, and a couple of years ago, he actually went into space for real, at the age of 90! And we hope rumors of his return as Captain Kirk to the Star Trek franchise after thirty years are actually true. We need ya Bill, so we’re happy to hear the actor seems to be out of the woods.
