This integration follows PayPal Ventures’ investment in Stable’s latest funding round. It signals strong institutional confidence in the network’s vision for frictionless, dollar-backed blockchain transactions.
Faster Payments, Lower Costs
Stablechain leverages ultra-fast processing speeds and low fees to offer near-instant transaction finality, making it ideal for commerce and peer-to-peer transfers. The PYUSD integration utilizes LayerZero to bridge blockchains programmatically, ensuring cross-chain transactions are seamless. For example, merchants can accept PYUSD payments from users on different blockchain networks without waiting hours for settlement or paying excessive fees.
This feature addresses a common hurdle in digital commerce, where slow confirmation times and high costs often deter adoption. Stable’s CTO Sam Kazemian highlighted the synergy between PayPal’s decades of fiat payment expertise and Stable’s blockchain infrastructure, noting that the collaboration promises the next major leap in cross-border payments.

The network also plans to expand cross-chain compatibility and provide onramp and offramp solutions for PYUSD. This opens the door for the stablecoin to move smoothly between blockchains, unlocking new use cases such as decentralized finance payments, cross-border remittances, and global e-commerce settlements. David Weber, Head of PYUSD Ecosystem at PayPal, emphasized that the partnership aims to remove traditional friction points and drive broader adoption of stablecoins across the financial ecosystem.
Stable recently closed a $28 million seed round with participation from Bitfinex and Hack VC. Alongside leadership expansions, including Co-CEO Brian Mehler and CTO Sam Kazemian. PayPal Ventures partner Amman Bhasin praised Stable’s focus on emerging markets, where reliable dollar-based payments can make the greatest impact. The network’s roadmap for 2025 promises further updates on development milestones, new partnerships, and innovative applications for PYUSD.
