Warner Bros. is gearing up for battle as the release date for Mortal Kombat II looms ever closer. The studio shared a pretty sweet clip of Johnny Cage squaring off against Baraka at CinemaCon, but that’s not all we got. Regal has officially unveiled its lineup of Mortal Kombat II collectibles, featuring an epic Shao Kahn collectible popcorn bucket. Our friends at CinemaCon were kind enough to gift Nerdist with one of our very own. Let us assure you, it is BIG.
Mortal Kombat II introduces Shao Kahn as the film’s primary antagonist. Thus, it only makes sense that the collectible popcorn bucket for the movie would feature the sinister villain’s signature bone helmet. The boisterous, silver monstrosity certainly caught our eye. Though, surprisingly, it’s not as heavy as it looks.
The Shao Kahn popcorn container is not alone in Regal’s merch lineup for Mortal Kombat II. Other in-theater collectibles include a light-up cup with the Mortal Kombat dragon logo and a double combo that comes with collectible cups and a dragon logo popcorn bucket. All collectible items are exclusive to Regal cinemas and will be available at select theaters soon.
Mortal Kombat II unleashes an intense, no-holds barred battle to defend the Earthrealm. Karl Urban assumes the iconic role of movie star-turned-warrior Johnny Cage. Martyn Ford dons the helmet of Shao Kahn, the sinister Emperor of the Outworld. Who will come out on top? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Those who aren’t Regal regulars haven’t been left in the dust. AMC Theatres will be handing out collectible packs of Upper Deck trading cards for IMAX attendees on opening weekend, while Cinemark offers a Johnny Cage Collectible Popcorn Bucket shaped like a Hollywood clapperboard. It also looks like AMC Theatres will have a Mortal Kombat II popcorn bucket shaped like a retro arcade cabinet. Mortal Kombat II battles its way into theaters on May 8.
