The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will kick off this year’s holiday season right when it hits theaters on November 20. We will go back 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games to meet a young Haymitch Abernathy, who will be played by Joseph Zada.
The film kicks off on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. A new promo for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping dives into who Haymitch is at this point in his life, giving fans more context about what they will see in the movie. We also get a lot of cross comparisons between young Haymitch alongside of footage of his future self, who was infamously played by Woody Harrelson.
We see Zada discussing his character as well as some awesome footage, both from the film as well as behind the scenes. Fans have been waiting for these types of looks for a while, and we are certainly among that crowd. It made our hearts swell to see Whitney Peak’s Lenore interact with her boyfriend Haymitch.
The cast is stacked, including Glenn Close, Billy Porter, Maya Hawke, Kieran Culkin, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Lili Taylor and Ralph Fiennes, among many others. May the odds be ever in their favor.
